Squid Launches Any-To-Any Token Swaps Throughout Cosmos and EVM Ecosystems

Single-click token swaps across Cosmos and EVM blockchains are now live at app.squidrouter.com and via Squid’s developer tools

Squid is arriving with full force in Cosmos, enabling cross-chain token swaps among 48 Cosmos chains (and counting) as well as all 14 EVM chains that Squid already supports. Starting today, users can visit the Squid app to easily transfer and convert a wide variety of tokens within and across the Cosmos and EVM ecosystems in a single click.

Swap In, Out and In Between 48 Cosmos Chains (and counting!)

There’s an exciting expansion of the DeFi ecosystem happening in Cosmos, and Squid is proud to be lowering the barrier to entry for EVM natives to get involved. Moving your assets across chains is one of the highest friction actions in crypto and requires the trust of users as they take a step out of their comfort zone into a new blockchain domain. Squid is built to make cross-chain activities as easy as ones on a single chain and is built on the robust Axelar Network to provide users with a secure means of accessing new chains and applications.

Interoperability between EVM and the Cosmos: Powered by Axelar

This dramatic expansion of Squid’s footprint is enabled by Axelar’s Cosmos General Message Passing (GMP), which allows for both tokens and smart contract logic, like the instructions for a token swap, to be transported between EVM and Cosmos chains.

Within Cosmos, Squid uses Osmosis to make token swaps and uses Packet-Forward Middleware to optimally route assets over IBC so as to avoid liquidity fragmentation problems. This means that you can not only make swaps from an EVM to a Cosmos chain (or vice versa) but also from one Cosmos chain to another.

Your adventure to the Cosmos starts now 🫡

Since day one, the Cosmos vision has centered around unifying a disparate landscape of blockchains, and today’s launch marks a leap forward for extending that vision to include the EVM world. Ultimately, blockchains are infrastructure, and it’s the applications built on those blockchains that bring users exciting functionality. Squid is making it simple for users to access apps across both ecosystems with one-click swaps, and we can’t wait to see what new interactions result!

About Axelar

Axelar delivers secure interchain communication. That means dApp users can interact with any asset, any application, on any chain, with one click. You can think of it as Stripe for Web3. Developers interact with a simple API atop a permissionless network that routes messages and ensures network security via proof-of-stake consensus.
